This business started after seeing firsthand how much a founder's impact can be diluted from the work they are meant to do when the backend of the company is running on manual processes, disconnected tools, and too much day-to-day operational intervention.

How It Started

The inspiration came from home.

Before starting Smarter Solutions Strategy, I was working in corporate software, helping design systems for a trading platform. Around the same time, my wife was trying to scale her already successful business.

The opportunity was there. On the surface, her business was thriving, and behind the scenes, the systems were in chaos and she was burning out. There was very little automation, too much admin, and too much of the day was being spent just keeping the business moving.

Growth felt heavier than it should have. Not because the business lacked potential, but because the operational foundation was being supported by one person's consistent manual input.

Once I stepped in to reshape workflows, connect systems, and remove unnecessary manual work, the change was immediate. The business became easier to run. Leadership got time back and a new level of trust was achieved. Scaling no longer felt like rebuilding the plane mid-flight.

That experience raised a bigger question: how many other businesses were dealing with the exact same thing?

What Shaped Our Thinking

The lesson has been consistent across every chapter: the right systems create leverage.

Structure under pressure

As a lifeguard on the ocean through high school and college, I worked alongside retired Navy SEALs. In that environment, structure and protocol were not optional. When someone is struggling in the water, you do not have time to improvise. You react, follow the system, and execute. With the wrong systems, bad things can happen.

Operations with real stakes

Later, while running operations for a fleet of oil tankers, the same principle held true. Established workflows did not just improve efficiency. They protected people, reduced risk, and influenced decisions that could swing millions of dollars in either direction.

Technology that amplifies people

Working in software and product environments reinforced another belief: technology should not replace good people. It should amplify them. The right systems create better visibility, shortens the feedback loop, enabling stronger decision-making.

What We Believe

More tools do not automatically create a better business.

Technology can absolutely make a company more complicated when it is layered in without a clear operational structure behind it. It is easy for businesses to end up with a platform for sales, one for accounting, another for marketing, and communication and at the end of the day aren't integrated, with lost efficiency and added work to reconcile all the information.

That is why our work starts with the goal state. In a perfect world, what should the business look like? How should it run? What should leadership know and when? Where should time be spent? What should no longer require so much manual effort?

From there, we work backward to the current state. We reverse engineer the systems and workflows which illuminates what the priorities are to support the goal state of your business. The focus is not on adding complexity. It's on creating a reliable toolset to enhance your leverage.
